August 2017. Summer - Car Cruising Time

Living in Michigan.  Many choices of where and when.

What happens when you have 2 on the same dates but different location?

You make a choice.  For me, very simple.  Go to the place where my Z Zoomer was lovingly restored. T Rod’s Collision in Burton Michigan.  Adjacent to Flint, where the Buick Motor Car Company started in 1903.  Same time that Henry Ford started the Ford Motor Company.

David Dunbar Buick incorporated his company as the Buick Motor Company on May 19, 1903, in Detroit, Michigan. In March, 1904, the company was purchased by Benjamin Briscoe, who quickly sold it to James H. Whiting (1842–1919), owner of Flint Wagon Works, in Flint, Michigan.  This plant was located on South Saginaw Street, and manufactured Buick bodies and pressed-metal parts. GM bought the plant from Durant Motors before 1935; it had opened in the early 1920s as Durant Motors headquarters, producing the "Flint" car.  In those early days, the streets were paved with bricks.

The car show “Back To The Bricks” has been going on for 12 years.

If you are interested in more than cars – check the many other venues of art, gardens, food and fun.

Another, going on in the Detroit area - “The Woodward Dream Cruise.”

As you read this – get into the cruise machine of your choice – maybe even pedal powered to navigate the large collection of various beautiful “works of art."

When I took the car to T Rods – also know as Thomas Rodney, much required.

As you can tell from the finished product – my “dream cruiser” looks great.

That though does not happen without the efforts of many artisans and friends.

As an extra memento for their efforts, gave each a ceramic tile that explains it all – Thanks for working yourself to the bone.  I appreciate your help.

Rather than use too many words, I will let you review some photos to show the festivities of fun, food and a chance for friendly banter – whose car looks nice?  Which is the loudest?  When will I have one to bring that turns heads?

Soon I hope.  Enjoy – MAGwheel – original owner of Z Zoomer.  Then again, that's another story to be told in another journal I am working on.

From original purchase in 1968, up to the present.  The “present,” being the special my wife got for me while I was a soldier in Vietnam in 1968.  Sad news was, our 1965 Mustang convertible was stolen.  I had to advise her – what to get?

I made the right choice in both wife and car – both bring smiles (-:
